For this week’s article I’ve decided to take it back down South and interview London artist ‘St3v’.

I came across St3v on TikTok early February, got into his music – particularly his single “Go There” and “Go Off St3v” which were the songs that motivated me to request this interview.

Yes, this one is a fairly short and quick one, however, there’s no doubt it’s concise…

megan: “Tell me about how the name st3v came to be?”

St3v: “My name is Stephen. Some of my friends call me Steve and some call me Steph – combination. Stunna is my alter ego and it came from my favourite wrestler Steve Austin’s special move. His name is Steve too so yeah…”

megan: “How do you embody st3v’s persona through your music?”

St3v: “I’m a fly real n*gga. I rap about things I want and things I have. I also stress that I’m one of the biggest haters known to man.”

megan: “your music videos are extremely creative and radiate an unreal aura…what goes into the direction of the videos?”

St3v: “Me and @Tediousvisuals are pretty creative. When we mix directive visions we just create a crazy plan and wing half of it. A lot of the imagery in my vids come from things I’m super into. The real St3v with Pokémon for example. Or ‘Go There’ with Kane from WWE, oni masks, chainsaw–like in horrors.”

megan: “are there any musicians that have inspired you?”

St3v: “I have influences from everywhere but Uzi definitely shaped a lot of the freeness of how I see music. Especially when I first heard LIR2…creative masterpiece.”

megan: “having such a niche sound, have you faced any negative critism and if yes, has that impacted your work?“

St3v: “There’s been haters saying I clone everyone idk who I’m cloning at this point. I kinda just do my own thing. Prolly got more bread than most of them I can’t really stress.”

megan: “who’s your favourite feature of your career so far and if you could collab with anyone who would it be and why?”

St3v: “My favourite feature is probably Nova. I like the effort he puts in feats. Something’s coming that I can’t talk about but yeah…”

“As for a collab with anyone, it would be Uzi. He’s very versatile and I feel like we can hop on some random beat and make something refreshing and crazy.”

megan: “You released your debut album last year (2023), what were the sessions you worked on that like?”

St3v: “It was a pretty easy process. St3v or Stunna is kind of just a long tape. A collation of hits I had in the vault, not that much cohesion to stress about it. It was across many sessions so idk if I could answer that.”

megan: “the year has just begun and you’ve already dropped two singles as well as two EP’s – how do you maintain such a strong work ethic?”

St3v: “Simple. My manager gets onto me.”

megan: “What should be expect to see from you this year?”

St3v: “Lots of track and more music videos!”
